Physical Wellness Exam
This is a comprehensive examination by a veterinarian to ensure your dog or cat is healthy and no new medical concerns are detected. Veterinarians are required by law to perform this exam once a year on healthy pets in order to prescribe medications, including preventatives.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are an important veterinary service that help keep our community's pets and humans healthy and provide aid for transmissible disease prevention. Select the Vaccines + Prevention link below to learn more about Riverside Veterinary's vaccine care.
Preventative Diagnostic Testing
Intestinal Parasite Screen – (Dogs and cats) We support the recommendations of the AVMA and CDC and recommend at least once a year intestinal parasite screens. Our pets (even inside pets) can contract intestinal parasites many different ways including hunting (rodents, birds, insects) and exposure to areas where other animals have been.
Heartworm Test – (Dogs yearly, cats when needed) There have been some strains of drug resistant heartworms that have developed in the US. The FDA and our Veterinarians believe it is important to the health of your dog to ensure that the heartworm prevention you use is protecting your pet by doing a yearly check for microfilaria in their blood. If you’ve missed even one dose of prevention, your pet should be checked before starting prevention again.
Young Wellness Panel – (Kittens, Puppies, Young Adults) This is a baseline blood panel recommended for all dogs and cats under 1 year of age. It checks to see if all organ systems are healthy and serves as a valuable reference as your pet gets older.
Adult + Senior Wellness Panel – (Dogs and cats) This is a comprehensive blood panel that is recommended yearly for all dogs and cats over 1 year of age. Having bloodwork done for geriatric pets is crucial for longevity, early detection of disease and management of conditions.
Feline Leukemia/FIV Testing – (Cats) Feline leukemia and FIV are two highly contagious viral diseases that affect cats. Kittens can become infected in the womb and adult cats can contract it from interactions with other cats. Our Veterinarians recommend testing all kittens at their first visit and then all cats that spend any time outside yearly thereafter.
